The Queen of the Nurburgring has sadly passed away.
It is with great sadness that WWCOTY announce the passing of one of our fellow female motoring enthusiasts, Sabine Schmitz.
Schmitz, best known as the Queen of the Nurburgring and presenter on the acclaimed tv series, Top Gear, revealed last year that she had been battling cancer since 2017.
Nurburgring, the iconic German racing track, said in a statement on Wednesday: “The Nurburgring has lost its most famous female racing driver. Sabine Schmitz passed away far too early after a long illness. We will miss her and her cheerful nature. “
The 51 year old paved the way for many of us on the WWCOTY team and will be remembered for her racing skills and automotive knowledge. Rest in peace Sabine!
