Charleen Clarke – South Africa
Freelance writer Charleen Clarke began her potholed path in motoring journalism in 1984, working on a newspaper in the coastal city of Port Elizabeth, in South Africa. Since then, she has written about cars for dozens of magazines and newspapers in South Africa and around the world.
Charleen is also a television presenter, and has introduced South African petrol heads to the world of wheels via the Topcar and De Kat television shows.
Charleen has won a boot load of awards, including South African Motoring Journalist of the Year and South African Commercial Vehicle Journalist of the Year, and she’s also a former chairman and president of the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists.
In addition to serving on the Women’s World Car of the Year judging panel, Charleen judges the World Car Awards and she is an associate member of the International Truck of the Year jury. She also judges the South African Car of the Year and the Truck Innovation Award.
Currently she writes for Cyberstoep, Focus on Transport and Logistic, Sheq Management and Dekat.
