Sara Soria -Spain
Sara is a journalist specializing in the world of automobiles and road safety for more than 20 years. Her beginnings in motor journalism were in the weekly ‘Motor 16’ and continued in magazines aimed at the automobile industry (‘Autorevista’) and the garage and after-sales sector (‘Nuestros Talleres’). In 2000, she made the jump to digital media to launch one of the first car websites in Spain (‘Supermotor’), where she worked for 11 years. The following 7 years were dedicated to managing her own motor sites, one on cars and another on motorbikes.
Now she manages MovilidadHoy.com, focuses on eco-friendly mobility, with its own channel in Youtube. She also works as a freelance journalist at Coches.net, leading motor website in Spain, and writes about road safety in other media.
In recognition of her work, in June 2019 she received the prestigious Road Safety Journalism Award organized by Línea Directa Foundation, in December 2019 she received Road Safety Journalism Award by Gestrafic Foundation and in June 2016 she received the Accenture Journalism Award in the Technology category for a report on the autonomous car.
In a mostly male sector, Sara considers the opinion and evaluation of the motor from a woman’s point of view to be fundamental and encourages more female journalists to write about the world of cars and to guide readers in a possible purchase. Her position as a journalist allows her to drive most of the models sold in Spain and to participate in conferences on technology, mobility and road safety.
